A Canadian-made animated primetime comedy series will run on Hulu and Hulu Plus as an exclusive series for the U.S.-based web TV and streaming video service.
It’s one of a number of new ITV (Internet television) productions that hit digital platforms like the Web, mobile or smart devices in conjunction with, if not instead of, conventional television airing.
Fugget About It (Seasons 1&2, 26 x 22’) was originally developed for the TELETOON at Night Pilot Project; despite being loosely based on the exploits of a major American crime family, it’s a light comedy, and the series guest stars top comic and entertainment personalities including Howie Mandel, Alan Thicke, Andrea Martin and Jason Jones (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart).
“Hulu has a tremendous reputation for high quality comedy content online and we’re delighted to have Fugget About It chosen as a Hulu Exclusive Series,” said Vince Commisso, President and CEO 9 Story Entertainment. “This series is our first foray into primetime comedy and we look forward to bringing it to Hulu’s loyal comedy followers.”
Fugget About It was created by Nicholas Tabarrok and Willem Wennekers, and developed by Jeff Abugov. Executive producers are Nicholas Tabarrok, Willem Wennekers, Jeff Abugov and for 9 Story, Vince Commisso and Steven Jarosz. 9 Story also handles international distribution.
Toronto-based 9 Story Entertainment operates one of North America’s largest animation studios, with over 200 creative and production staff producing content across multiple platforms. The company’s distribution arm is 9 Story Enterprises; the company recently acquired CCI Kids, the family content division of CCI Entertainment, increasing its program portfolio significantly.
