The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television (the Canadian Academy) has announced the nominees for the 2024 Canadian Screen Awards, and we are thrilled to share that our 9 Story and Brown Bag shows have received a combined total of 6 nominations! The annual awards celebrating excellence on-screen across 156 television, film and digital media categories, will be presented over four days during Canadian Screen Week 2024, including The 2024 Canadian Screen Awards broadcast show, hosted by Mae Martin, airing on Friday, May 31 at 8 PM (9 AT, 9:30 NT) on CBC and CBC Gem.
Now on to our exceptional nominated series and nominees…
First up, Daniel Tiger’s Neighbourhood (9 Story Media Group/Fred Rogers Productions) is nominated in the ‘Best Pre-School Program or Series’ category, alongside Aunty B’s House (Headspinner Productions Inc.), Builder Brothers Dream Factory (Sinking Ship Entertainment, Scott Brothers Entertainment), Dino Ranch (Boat Rocker, Industrial Brothers), and Paw Patrol (Spin Master Entertainment).
Next, our favourite Creature Adventurers the Wild Kratts (9 Story Media Group, Kratt Brothers Company) snagged not one, but THREE nominations. The series is nominated for ‘Best Animated Program or Series,’ rounding out the group of five outstanding nominated series including Interstellar Ella (Apartment 11 Productions, Fabrique Fantastique), Pinecone & Pony (First Generation Films), Snoopy Presents: One-Of-A-Kind Marcie (Wildbrain), and The Snoopy Show (Wildbrain). Martin Kratt received a nod in the ‘Best Writing, Animation’ category for their work on the episode ‘Clever Raven’. Other nominees in this category include Louise Moon for Paw Patrol, and Corey Liu, Jocelyn Geddie and Stephanie Kaliner, all nominated for Pinecone & Pony (First Generation Films). Finally, the directing duo Martin Kratt and Louis Champagne are both nomination for ‘Best Direction, Animation’ for the Wild Kratts episode ‘Clever Raven.’
And our Wild Kratts directors are not our only 9 Story & Brown Bag Films honourees in the ‘Best Direction, Animation’ category, Daniel Tiger’s Neighbourhood director Tammy Langton is also nominated for their work on the episode ‘The Neighborhood Wedding’ and Rosie’s Rules directors Heejung Yun and Paul Riley are nominated for their work on the episode ‘Crystal’s New Bunny.’ Filling out the category are Wayne-Michael Lee for Pinecone & Pony (First Generation Films) and Diana Basso and Joey So for Rubble & Crew (Spin Master Entertainment).

All our 2024 Canadian Screen Awards nominated series are all animated in Toronto, Canada by our world-class animation studio Brown Bag Films, and produced by 9 Story Media Group. The extraordinary animal-powered adventures of Wild Kratts is co-produced by the Kratt Brothers Company, and the beloved animated preschool hit Daniel Tiger Neighbourhood is co-produced by Fred Rogers Productions. Rosie’s Rules was created by Emmy Award-winning writer and children’s book author, Jennifer Hamburg (Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Super Why!, Pinkalicious & Peterrific,Cyberchase, Doc McStuffins). Hamburg also serves as Executive Producer on the series, along with TV veteran, Mariana Diaz-Wionczek, PhD, (Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go!, Santiago of the Seas).
