7 Canadian Screen Awards Nominations for 9 Story & Brown Bag Films

The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television (the Canadian Academy) has announced the nominees for the 2022 Canadian Screen Awards and we are thrilled to share that our 9 Story and Brown Bag shows have received a combined total of 7 nominations! 

First up, Daniel Tiger’s Neighbourhood (Fred Rogers Productions/Family Channel) and Wild Kratts: Cats and Dogs (Kratt Brothers Company/TVOKids) are both nominated for Best Animated Program or Series, alongside Corner Gas Animated (Vérité Films, Sparrow Media/CTV Comedy), Go, Dog, Go, (Wildbrain/Netflix), and The Snoopy Show (Wildbrain/Apple TV+).  

Next, Wild Kratts Directors, Martin Kratt and Louis Champagne have snagged a shared nomination for Best Direction, Animation for their work on the series special Wild Kratts: Cats and Dogs. 

Writers Charles Johnston is nominated in the category of Best Writing, Animation, for his work on the “I am Temple Grandin” episode from Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum.  

Composer Meiro Stamm has scooped up a nomination for Best Original Music, Animation on Xavier Riddle’s “I am Ella Fitzgerald”, alongside Ari Posner, Amin Bhatia, and Kris Kuzdak who are nominated in the same category for their work on Let’s Go Luna’s “The Way of the Gaucho”.  

And to top off the list, Let’s Go Luna is also nominated for Best Sound, Animation for “Leo the Viking”. Shout out to the series sound team Mike Mancuso, Joe Tetreau, Patrick Mallan, Ryan Eligh and Matt McKenzie on this fantastic honour. 

All our 2022 Canadian Screen Awards nominated series are animated in Toronto, Canada by our world-class animation studio Brown Bag Films, and produced by 9 Story Media Group. The extraordinary animal-powered adventures of Wild Kratts is co-produced by the Kratt Brothers Company, and the beloved animated preschool hit Daniel Tiger Neighbourhood is co-produced by Fred Rogers Productions. Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum is based on the children’s book series Ordinary People Change the World by New York Times best-selling author Brad Meltzer and illustrator Christopher Eliopoulos, and Let’s Go Luna is created by Emmy Award-winning animator, writer, and artist Joe Murray (Rocko’s Modern Life, Camp Lazlo).

The 2022 Canadian Screen Week will take place virtually from Monday, April 4, 2022, to Sunday, April 10, 2022.
