First up, Dylan’s Playtime Adventures picked up a nomination for ‘Best New Series (Preschool)’ alongside fellow nominees Count on Junebug (THIRTEEN, Double Scoop Studio), and Silly Sundays (Cartoon Saloon). Produced by 9 Story Media Group and animated by its award-winning studio Brown Bag Films in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery and CBC Kids, Dylan’s Playtime Adventures is based on the Scholastic book series by bestselling author/illustrator Guy Parker-Rees. The series features both 2D and CG animation and follows a highly imaginative, multi-colored striped dog who is eager to role-play every career, from a doctor to a hair stylist to a sea captain. With just some basic props and some great friends, Dylan transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary, jumping feet first into every adventure that comes his way.
Next, one of 9 Story’s newest series Let’s Go, Bananas! was nominated in the category of ‘Best Inclusivity (Preschool).’ Other nominees included Mixmups (Mixmups Entertainment) and Sesame Street (Sesame Workshop.) Let’s Go, Bananas! was developed and produced by 9 Story Media Group with gorgeous animation from Brown Bag Films’ Toronto studio. The series is a feel-good celebration of the realities of family life; messy, joyful, chaotic, wonderful, and of course, totally BANANAS! Let’s Go, Bananas! was created by award-winning writer and producer Tim Bain, creator of action-comedy series Kangaroo Beach and writer on hit children’s series including Bluey, PJ Masks, Thomas the Tank Engine and Aardman’s Epic Adventures of Morph. The show is inspired by Tim’s own family and features a community of three sweet and silly animal families, the Bananas (gorillas), Crockers (crocodiles) and Tiger-Zelles (tigers and gazelles). Let’s Go, Bananas! is also written by Tim and directed by Brown Bag Films’ own Matt Mitchell (Let’s Go Luna, Rosie’s Rules).
And last but not least, the 9 Story and Kratt Brothers co-pro, Wild Kratts, was nominated for ‘Best Holiday or Special Episode (Kids)’ for the special “Our Blue and Green World” (Wild Kratts.) Also honoured in the category was “‘Twas the Fight Before Christmas” (The Loud House, Nickelodeon Animation Studio), and Miracle on Dead Creek Road” (The Santa Clauses, 20th Television, Disney Branded Television.) Wild Kratts is a critically acclaimed animated children’s television series that combines live-action footage, animation, and educational content. The show follows the adventures of animated versions of real-life brothers, Chris and Martin Kratt, as they travel to different habitats around the world to learn about and protect various animal species. Wild Kratts was created by the Kratt brothers, Chris and Martin, and produced by The Kratt Brothers Company and 9 Story Media Group. The award-winning series is also animated by the Oscar nominated studio Brown Bag Films out of their Toronto location.
A special shout out is extended to 9 Story’s Distribution partner, Fred Rogers Productions, on their three nominations for Donkey Hodie, including Best Live-Action Series (Preschool), Best Web/App Series—Branded, and Best Alternative Game. 9 Story is proud to be both the global distributor and the worldwide (with the exception of the US) merchandising and licensing partner for this fantastic series.
