Dylan’s on his way – are you ready to play?
We are thrilled to share that Dylan’s Playtime Adventures (52 x11 min), a new preschool series produced by 9 Story Media Group and animated by 9 Story’s award-winning, Toronto-based animation studio Brown Bag Films, in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery and CBC Kids, will be jumping onto screens across Canada, this Spring, on CBC Kids.
Based on the Scholastic book series by bestselling illustrator/author Guy Parker-Rees, Dylan’s Playtime Adventures is a CG animated interactive comedy about a highly imaginative, multi-colored striped dog who is eager to play pretend every career, from a train conductor to a nurse to an astronaut. With just some basic props and some great friends, Dylan transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary, jumping feet first into every adventure that comes his way. Fueled by creativity, Dylan models best of play and improv leading to wildly original escapades that empower and encourage kids to trust their hearts, imaginations and each other.
Canada’s public broadcaster announced the greenlight of the CBC original series at its annual upfronts this June, sharing that Dylan’s Playtime Adventures, would be joining their Spring 2024 kids programming lineup.
This whimsical new series was developed in house by 9 Story’s Creative Affairs Division, by their Toronto-based team. 9 Story’s VP of Development Karen Fowler had this to share about the exuberant and stripey dog’s Canadian announcement:
“We can’t wait for kids and families to embark on an incredible journey into the whimsical and wonderful world of Dylan’s Playtime Adventures, coming to CBC Kids in Spring 2024.
Our 9 Story Creative Affairs team, working out of our Toronto studio, has poured their hearts and souls into developing and producing this wildly imaginative series for young viewers. From the extraordinary storytelling to the vibrant animation– our first 2d/CG series here — every detail has been carefully curated to tickle the hearts and minds of children everywhere.”
Dylan’s Playtime Adventures was also announced in 2021 as part of WarnerMedia Kids & Family expansion of Cartoonito’s preschool slate. Watch this space for more updates on the CBC original series, coming soon.
