9 Story Spys New International Territories For Harriet The Spy: Blog Wars

By March 14, 2011News

(TORONTO) (March 14, 2011) — Multi-award-winning production and distribution studio 9 Story Entertainment has signed new international broadcast and DVD deals for its live-action movie, Harriet the Spy: Blog Wars.

Harriet, which debuted in 2010 on Disney Channel in the U.S. and rolled out on all international Disney Channels throughout the year, has been sold to NRJ 12 (France), TV Globo (Brazil), Super Ecran (Quebec) and VRAK (Quebec). In addition, DVD rights have been sold to Madman (Australia).

The deal follows on the heels of last months announcement granting the DVD distribution rights to The Walt Disney Company for Europe, the Middle East and Africa Additional DVD distribution deals include Vivendi Entertainment for the U.S. and eOne Entertainment for Canada.

Loosely based on the popular books by Louise Fitzhugh, the movie is a contemporary twist on the iconic character, as Harriet “The Spy” Welsch, played by Jennifer Stone (Wizards of Waverly Place), vies to become the official blogger of her high school class.

Willing to do whatever it takes to earn the coveted position, Harriet competes against her arch nemesis, popular student Marion Hawthorne, in a month-long blog war to win her classmates’ support. When Harriet’s father, movie producer Roger Welsch, signs on to produce the sequel to the hottest teen-musical, “Spy High,” she knows her inside scoop will be a perfect opportunity to win over her classmates.

Despite Harriet’s disdain for the movie and its star popular teen heartthrob, Skander Hill, she embarks on a mission to spy on him and expose his true colors. Harriet, with the help of best friends Sport and Janie, manages to turn Skander’s every misstep into fodder for her postings. But when her blog entries begin to take on a life of their own, it’s up to Harriet to set the record straight before she unwittingly brings down her father’s film, ruins Skander’s career and loses out on her dream of becoming class blogger.
