Coming Up: ‘Is There a Showrunner in the House?’ – Annecy Festival & Mifa Conference Panel

This year’s Annecy Animation Film Market (MIFA) is in full swing, running from June 13 – 16 as part of the Annecy Festival, the world’s largest event dedicated to animation.

The Mifa event is a wonderful opportunity to discover all animation’s richness and productivity and meet many industry professionals to discuss, network, and make acquisitions. The market also hosts the Mifa Conferences, a series of discussions centered around a variety of themes including Creation, Production Organization, Business and XR. Their ambition is to be a platform for insightful discourse about current and future issues pertaining to the animation industry. The Mifa Conferences are presented by renowned industry professionals ready to share their work experiences and strategic points of view.

This year we are thrilled to share that our 9 Story SVP & Head of Creative Affairs, Wendy Harris, will be participating the upcoming Mifa Conferences session titled ‘Is There a Showrunner in the House?‘. The panel will explore the animated series universe through the role of the “showrunner.” It is a unique opportunity for market attendees to understand how the role of a showrunner, a term which originated in the US and got popular in the live-action production of series, adapts and changes in the world of animation. Along with Wendy, panel guests include Writer, Director & Founder of Baboon Animation Mike De Seve, Free lance story editor Diane Morel, and Showrunner & Story Artist Sofia Alexander. The session is moderated by Natalie Altmann, Producer & Founder of Media Valley.

The Mifa Conference ‘Is There a Show Runner in the House?’ kicks off on Thursday, June 15, from 14:15 → 15:30 at the Impérial Palace Salle de l’Europe. The event is open to students, and Festival and Mifa badge holders.

Throughout its 60-year history, the Annecy Festival has solidified its position as a prominent global event devoted to animation. It serves as a vibrant gathering that unites esteemed professionals from all parts of the industry, celebrating the creative brilliance and diverse array of styles and techniques found within the world of animation.
