Go Behind the Scenes of our NYC Kick It with Karma’s World Event!

This week we’re hosting our ‘Kick It with Karma’s World’ event in New York City, and we want to give you an exclusive behind-the-scenes look into how it all came to be!  

On August 10th, 2022 Karma’s World is hosting two exciting experiences in New York City for ‘Kick It with Karma’s World.’ From 11:00 am-7:00 pm, you can drop in at FAO Schwarz for shopping, giveaways, interactive activations, and more, and from 10:00 am-3:00 pm you can visit Flippers Roller Boogie Palace for a Karma’s World themed roller rink experience!  

‘Kick It with Karma’s World’ is going to present some full-out fun, giving visitors a chance to engage in all things Karma’s World. 

One of the main goals of this event was to show off the Karma’s World product line and soundtrack. 9 Story’s Co-VP of Consumer Products, Kyra Halperin, is excited that the event at FAO Schwarz will introduce Karma’s World to even more fans, allowing them to fully engage with the products and music: 

“We’re very excited to be able to celebrate our new Karma’s World products alongside the incredible team at FAO Schwarz. We have some amazing products from our partners including Mattel, Scholastic, Curly Kids, Franco MFG, KidDesigns, Hybrid, and more, that will be available for purchase during the event and throughout August.   

These products are truly ground-breaking, reflecting the diverse representation found on-screen in Karma’s World. I’m thrilled that this will give kids an opportunity to experience the brand firsthand and express themselves as they play.” 

This new Karma’s World product line includes a full range of dolls (featuring individual dolls of Karma, Switch and Winston), a full Karma styling head, playsets, books, clothing, and much more! Guests can see live toy-demos and shop the full line during event day and are also able to receive an exciting gift with purchase all month long when buying Karma’s World products at FAO Schwarz.  

This event will also feature an exclusive appearance from Karma’s World executive producer Chris “Ludacris” Bridges! He’ll be there on the day celebrating these new products alongside Karma’s World fans. Plus, from 1:30-2:30, visitors will be eligible to get a piece of Karma’s World merchandise signed by Chris. 

Danielle Gillis, 9 Story’s Director of Content & Production, knows this is a unique opportunity for fans to engage with the series’ source of inspiration: 

“Chris Bridges has been an incredible partner in the production of Karma’s World. We’re so excited for fans to have the chance to meet him at this next level experience!” 

This event will also present different activations designed to let kids get expressive. Danielle Gillis explains how the team wanted to use this day to highlight the show’s themes of self-expression and creativity: 

“In Karma’s World we encourage kids to create and let their light shine!  We’ve incorporated various activities into the day’s events for kids and families to express themselves through art, music and dance.” 

There will be plenty of ways for kids to express themselves, with activities including a super-size, draw-on Karma sneaker and dance party breaks. There will also be live hair-demos with hair stylists using products from Karma’s World partner CurlyKids HairCare, where kids can add some flair to their hair. 

Another important element of this event is the charity sneaker drive. Karma’s World has partnered with ‘It’s From The Sole’, an amazing New York City-based charity, that works to provide sneakers for people struggling with homelessness and poverty. This event will have designated areas for attendees to donate new and unused sneakers, and/or make monetary donations to the organization. 

Danielle Gillis knew including this charitable element was important to the Karma’s World team:  

“Karma Grant is passionate about using her voice to change the world. With every story, activation and partnership in Karma’s World we try to embody those values.” 

The party doesn’t stop at FAO Schwarz! The Kick It with Karma’s World event at Flippers Roller Boogie Palace also promises a ton of fun. Guests can join the Karma’s World crew to skate and get down to music from the series. 

This part of the event will see special appearances from some exciting kid DJs, DJ Annie Red and DJs Amira and Kayla. There will also be live Karma’s World choreography demos, teaching kids how to dance just like Karma!  

With activations both at FAO Schwarz and Flippers Roller Boogie Place, this is going to be a big day for Karma’s World. Planning an event of this magnitude is no easy feat—it takes a lot of work and planning to get it all done.   • Cost: $30 adults, $22 kids under 15 per 1-hour session, skate rental included (See website for details.)
